Dr. Kevin Frick

Professor

Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health

"Economics and Evidence Based Medicine"

Kevin Frick, PhD, is the Vice Dean for Education and a Professor and the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School.  The Carey Office of Education includes student development (academic advising, financial aid administration, student services, and career development), admissions and academic program staff, outreach to China, the registrar’s office, an office of Teaching & Learning, and the Office of Institutional Data and Analytics.  Dr. Frick is a PhD who teaches health care financing at the business school and microeconomic foundations for managerial decision making specifically to the Executive MBA class.  When he was at the Bloomberg School of Public Health (July 1996-March 2013), he taught health economics, obesity and economics, a course on evaluating cost-effectiveness studies, and several courses on cost-effectiveness methods.  His research focused on cost-effectiveness—methods, modeling, and using data from randomized controlled trials. His cost-effectiveness studies have included treatments and interventions for healthy eyes and vision, cancer, gastro-intestinal conditions, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, management of third stage of labor, breastfeeding, nursing interventions, and social work interventions.  This broad array has made him keenly aware of the methodological challenges that accompany working with various study designs and populations and the challenges of matching published or publishable data with managerial and policy-maker needs.
